LOTR not-30 Day Challenge Post 5

Day 21: BEST DEATH SCENE

Smeagol/Gollum's death
Gollum's death would have to be the best death scene in the entire trilogy. There was just something beautiful watching Gollum, after years of struggle and hardship to finally be re-united with the One Ring, to his death. He was falling and falling and his mind didn't care about anything else but the 'precious' that he held. Absolutely brilliant scene. Gollum's a hero after all.

Day 22: WORST DEATH SCENE

Saruman's Death
Ugh... this wasn't included in the final cut of the film, and for good reason! This scene when Grima stabbed Saruman at the back and he fell, fell, fell to his death in those spike things where he was impaled, made me cringe like the dear hobbits, Merry and Pippin. Disliked this scene, it was rather graphic, especially the sound.

Day 23: WORST DECISION BY ONE OF THE CHARACTERS

To me, personally, there weren't any, at all, because their decisions led to something good. Pippin sure came very close with his curiosity with the palantir on ROTK but that helped Gandalf see more into Sauron's plans, Frodo banishing Sam was definitely a good decision because if he didn't, then they both would've been killed by Shelob, I'm sure. Nope, no bad decisions here.

Day 24: SADDEST CASUALTY/COLLATERAL DAMAGE

Boromir's Death
This was a really sad part for me. Boromir was such a great character. He sacrificed his life to save Frodo and help out the others and that made me teary (not literally), but it was still very sad. Even though he tried taking the ring from Frodo, he was redeemed by his apology and the fact that he sacrificed his life. At the end of ROTK when Frodo was surrounded by the Fellowship, it just wasn't complete since Boromir wasn't there. >sigh< but it was all for good reason.

Day 25: FAVOURITE OVERALL CHARACTER

Aragorn
Again, I didn't want to choose, but ever since, I've always thought Aragorn was THEE best character in the trilogy. Apart from his ruggedness ;), he was a noble character and he made such an outstanding first impression at the FOTR when he killed the candles using his fingers! Ouch much! He was also just a great character overall, strong, generous, kind, loyal, brave and a great leader.
